Monday Miles

Hey Friends!! Happy Monday! How was everyone's day and weekend!?  Ours was busy! I helped my MIL prepare our family fall dinner Friday afternoon for a few hours, Saturday we ran errands and spent the afternoon and evening with my husband's family at their annual harvest dinner and Sunday I met up with some teammates on our local bike path for some early morning miles and then spent the rest of the day cleaning, cooking, drinking bloody mary's and watching movies.  Also, it's kind of difficult to type this because this is whats happening:


I never know what to call my off-season running.  Am I still training?! Technically, I guess so.  But my training right now is completely pulled back.  Like I mentioned in my last post, for the next few weeks I am doing no speed work, not racing, adding an extra rest day and keeping my runs at easy pace.  All of this is per my coach.

 I'm putting together a post about the importance of strength training, but really want to get some good movements you can do at home or at that gym if you don't have access to a trainer. So stay tuned!  Anyways, back to what we're here for.  This is what my past week of off-season training looked like:

Monday: 5 miles @ 8:56 Pace

I've been ending Monday runs at this place-- happiness 

Tuesday: 1 hour strength class + stretching and foam rolling
Wednesday: 1 hour strength class followed by a 6 mile group run in the rain.  It felt really hard after a TOUGH strength class!  6.0 miles @ 8:51 pace

Thursday:I planned to meet my running wife at 5, but my alarm went off at 4:30 and I was just SO EXHAUSTED I honestly couldn't get up.  I texted her and slept until 8. I did some Jasyoga and that was that for the day!


Friday: After 2 days of sleeping in a bit, I was up and at 'em at 5:00 am. I went to a 5:30 strength class and ran with Mike and Allison after! 4.0 miles @ 8:53 pace

Saturday: Off-- Husband I slept in, made breakfast, ran errands and headed down to my MIL for a family dinner! Days like this are few and far between and I really cherish them!


Sunday: Met up with some teammates for our "long runs" and did a workout with Karianne who's running a half next weekend! We did 8 x 3 min on at 8:20 pace.  It ended up being a bit faster then that and I finished with 9 miles @ 8:43 pace. We all had different distances, so we started out together but ended pretty much seperate so I never got a group photo. womp womp.

Side not: my friend Kristin (@mellank)  is pretty famous around our home town!
