Monday Miles- Week 3 NJ Marathon Training

Hey friends! How was your weekend? Ours was pretty quite and was filled with running(for me), re-watching Mad Men, cleaning and errands.  Monday is always filled with so much possibility for the week to come and I love that.  I'm usually most productive on Monday's.  I've already sent out a bunch of emails, cleaned up the kitchen, did laundry, went grocery shopping and figured out to grab a still from a video. I know it's not really that difficult, but it made me happy.

First off ---- A HUGE congrats to my soul sista Steph (on IG @bostonboundstephanie) who completed the Goofy Challenge this weekend! HOW FREAKING CUTE IS SHE!? You go girlfriend!

I'm already on my 3rd week of marathon training and things have been going great!  My coach and discussed trying out higher mileage this training cycle, and so far I've really enjoyed it.  We'll see how my body feels at the end of this week and my 3rd 50+ mile week :)

I made the decision to join Every Mother Counts at the New York City Half--This year I really wanted to do more.  Every Mother Counts is a non-profit organization dedicated to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother, every where. Did you know that 289,000 women die every year as a result of complications during pregnancy and childbirth? That's 1 woman, every two minutes. 98% of these deaths are preventable. You can read more about Every Mother Counts here -->  . The link below brings you to my fundraising page. No donation is too small. Thank you!

Monday: OFF
Tuesday: 5.12 miles/46:29:9:05 pace-- Allison and I seemed to forget how cold 3 degrees was.  With the windchill, it was -10.  Never. Again.  I'm not sure why we thought it was a good idea to run, but we ran.  I woke up late, but we met at 5:15,  3.5 miles and then headed to a strength class at 6am to thaw out.
Wednesday AM: Since I was running late yesterday, I didn't get to finish all my miles so I did them in the am while (literally) running errands around town.  Luckily my watch was still in resume mode from the day before so I just picked up where I left off.

Wednesday PM: 10.75 miles with workout -- Met up with the group for our Wednesday night speed workouts.  Our group's workout was 12x 300s.  I did a 3.5 mile warmup and 1 mile cooldown.  My 300s started out around 1:08 and ended around 1:03.
Thursday AM: 6.46 miles/56:07/8:41 pace -- Met Allison at 5am for some recovery miles and then headed to a strength class at 6am.  When I got to class my friend Kristen was there! She joined our team about a month ago, but doesn't live around here. she was in town for a class.

Thursday PM 4.25 miles/37:25/8:54 pace:  I knew I wouldn't be able to workin a double on Friday so I headed out for my double Thursday night.  I was working from home and was so warm and just did not want to go out for a run.  Even during the 1st mile I wanted to stop and was trying to workout in my head how I could run the miles another time.  Even though it was a really short run, I just didn't want to do it.  After the 1st mile though, I forgot about not wanting to run. Like usual :)
Friday: OFF  -- The Hubs and I took a drive to Windham mountain in the afternoon to check out the area and it was so nice to get out Albany for a few hours.
Saturday: 7 miles/57:40/8:14 pace -- After a day off, this run felt so great.  I never run with music anymore, but I did since I was running solo and wanted to listen to some Justin Bieber.
Sunday: 18.16 miles/2:35:02/8:32 pace -- 1st off. This was the weather.
Allison, her fiance Mike and I met at 8am to get in some miles before meeting up with the group at 10am for the Winter Series run.  It was POURING rain the entire time we were out there.

What was your favorite thing you did over the weekend?

How did your training go?
